ACADEMY OF DANCE

JoAnn Shepard Jebb is the current owner/director of The Academy of Dance in East Longmeadow, MA.  She began her dance training at a very young age, studying here in Western MA, as well as with numerous professional teachers and choreographers throughout the United States and Canada.  She had a very successful career as a competitive dancer winning numerous awards, titles and scholarships, on both a regional and national level.  Upon graduating from high school, JoAnn continued her dance education at SUNY Purchase, School for the Arts.  She joined the faculty of the Academy of Dance in 1985, and purchased the studio shortly thereafter in 1987.  JoAnn is an active member of Dance Masters of America and Dance Teachers Club of CT Chapter 18, an organization certifying teachers through a testing process, where she has also served on the Board of Directors.  She has also been on competition judging panels for many prestigious dance competitions such as American Dance Awards and Dance Masters of America.

Employing a distinguished and talented faculty, the Academy of Dance has trained some very accomplished and successful dancers throughout the years.  Season after season, the Academy of Dance students continue to win numerous awards and accolades at a wide variety of high level competitions, while the teachers/choreographers are consistently recognized for their outstanding level of training and innovative choreography.  Many alumni have gone on to use their dance background to simply be members of collage dance teams such as UConn, Providence College and Fairfield University to name only a few, become dance majors at prestigious programs such as SUNY Purchase or even to work professionally as New England Patriot's Cheerleaders, and performers at Busch Gardens and Holland America Cruise Lines.

Ms. Jebb is tremendously proud to celebrate 30 years of success as the owner/director of the Academy of Dance.  While providing quality dance training is of paramount importance at the Academy of Dance, what truly lies at the heart of the studio is family.  Here at the Academy of Dance, we strive to forge a personal relationship with every dancer, and encourage each student to become their own personal best.  We view every encounter as an opportunity for education, fun as well as inspiration...qualities which have truly become part of the studio's legacy and longevity!  Dance is an art form which can touch the lives of every child, whether it be one hour per week, or many!  We encourage you to join our exuberant and fun-filled dance family!
